We’re finally in the last month of the worst year ever and for many of us, having Christmas around the corner means we can perk up as we have something to look forward to. However, with the majority of people still working from home, it’s easy for disengaged or lonely employees to carry on feeling that way. Here are few ways you can get your employees feeling festive even when they’re working remotely.

Organise a quiz

If there’s one thing we’ve learnt in 2020, it’s that everyone LOVES a quiz. So get your quizmaster hat on and create the ultimate Christmas quiz for your team or company so everyone can have a good laugh. You can host it on Zoom or Teams, award a prize to the winner and even wear Christmas jumpers if you really want to!

Celebrate Christmas Jumper Day

It doesn’t take much to organise Christmas Jumper Day which is happening on Friday 11th December this year. Just drop an email round to all the staff to let them know about it and notify them which charity you’ll be raising money for (it’s normally Save the Children but you can mix it up if you really want). And don’t forget to invite everyone to a big Zoom call so you can take a screenshot to put on social media or get everyone to send you selfies so you can make one big collage. It’s certainly a different kind of Christmas jumper photo than we’re used to but it does the job!

Send Christmas cards

Depending on the size of your business, you might be able to handwrite Christmas cards for all your employees (or you can pay companies to print them). It’s such a simple yet caring gesture and for people who live on their own and feeling lonely or isolated around this time of year, it could put a smile on their face!

Tweak your Christmas party

As long as your tier allows it, you could give each team a budget to host their own Christmas get-together since it will be tricky for big companies to throw parties for everyone. Then they can decide whether they all order a Dominos or pop up to the pub for a Christmas meal. If all your employees are working remotely and this isn’t possible then it’s probably best to wait until next year!

Even though 2020 hasn’t been the year we all hoped for, there’s no reason why we can’t try and make the most of Christmas! You’re always going to get a few humbugs in the office but don’t worry about them, just focus on winning your Christmas quiz!

We at itris recruitment software love a good old Christmas doo, we hope you enjoy yours too! Here is to 2021!
